Tanzanian Tourism Experts Arrive in Guiyang to Explore Colorful Guizhou with Guizhou Tourism Group

On August 30, a delegation of 33 participants from Tanzania’s Advanced Tourism Development Training Programme arrived in Guiyang for a five-day study visit to Guizhou. The programme was guided by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and organised by the Academy for International Business Officials of Culture and Tourism. Guizhou Guizhou International Travel Service Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Guizhou Tourism Group, provided full-service support throughout the visit.

The programme offers Tanzanian tourism experts and scholars an opportunity to experience Guizhou firsthand, strengthen international exchange and mutual learning in the tourism sector, and promote cross-border tourism cooperation.

Guizhou, a southwestern Chinese province known for its rich natural resources and diverse cultural heritage, is increasingly attracting visitors from around the world. Upon arriving in Guiyang, the delegation was drawn to the rolling displays of Guizhou’s signature scenic destinations—including the popular “Huang Xiaoxi Chi Wan Fan” route—at the Guizhou Tourist Information Service Center. Group staff welcomed them in English and introduced local food, attractions and visitor services.

Tanzanian scholar George Mushi said: “The guides, drivers and staff at the center were all exceptionally friendly. They made everything convenient for me, and their hospitality was truly impressive and heartwarming.”

The delegation later visited Colorful Guizhou City, where Dong Grand Songs and an energetic bamboo-pole dance welcomed the guests. They explored the Drum Tower, the “Intangible Heritage Inspirations” Experience Center, local specialty stores, a matcha café and food venues, experiencing specialty coffee, craft beer, Guizhou cuisine and cultural creative products. The visitors spoke highly of the destination’s integrated dining, accommodation, transport, sightseeing, shopping and entertainment model.

“It vividly presents the distinctive features of Guizhou’s ethnic cultures, and there are visitors from many places,” said Tanzanian scholar Stephen Elias Madenge. “We hope to bring this experience of integrating culture and tourism back home to support the development of our own tourism industry.”

That evening, the group visited Jiaxiu Tower, a landmark of Guiyang, to enjoy views of the Nanming River and experience the city’s distinctive blend of history and modern life. In the days ahead, they will conduct further field visits to the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, Huangguoshu Waterfall and Yunfeng Tunpu, alongside exchanges on China–Africa cultural and tourism cooperation and tourism talent development.
