Introduction

The "Village Super League", hailing from the mountainous Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, is far more than an ordinary football match. It is a grand celebration featuring 137 village teams, where players are farmers with hoes or restaurant owners, and even the cheer squads are formed by villagers themselves. From a neighborhood competition of 20 teams to an international gathering drawing players from 52 countries, the popularity of this grassroots tournament has long swept across the globe.

The most vivid rural vibes lie right beside the venue: the Dong Grand Choir echoes through the valleys alongside football commentary; Miao girls' silver ornaments create a fascinating contrast with players' jerseys; villagers carry steaming sour soup fish and uniquely flavored Cattle Bie hot pot to the stands, instantly turning the venue into a lively intangible cultural heritage fair.
