Balin River Bridge
This is the first kilometer-class bridge in mountainous regions. It was the first to combine bridge tourism with Guizhou's landscape.
Introduction
The Balin River Bridge is in Guanling, Anshun, next to the Huangguoshu Waterfall tourist area. It is the world's first steel-truss suspension bridge built over a kilometer-long gorge in the mountains. Experts call it the first of Guizhou's world-class bridges.
The bridge is 2,237 meters long, with a main span of 1,088 meters. It is 370 meters above the Baling River. When it opened in 2009, it set many world and national records, including the world's largest tunnel-type anchorage. It won China's Luban Prize for Construction Engineering. It also provided important experience for building very large bridges in mountain areas.
This bridge was the first in Guizhou to combine tourism and bridge engineering. It is the only bridge in the province where visitors can explore the inside of the bridge. The bungee jump off the bridge is 370 meters high, which is the highest in the Guinness World Record. It also has low-altitude skydiving and high-altitude swings that people from all over the world come to try.
The Damling River Bridge Museum, which was built around the bridge, has become a popular place for learning and researching bridges. The bridge connects Huangguoshu Waterfall to the east, the ancient Tea-Horse Road to the west, the Red Cliff Heavenly Book to the south, and the Drip Waterfall to the north, joining together a series of Guizhou's beautiful places to form a special tourist loop.
This red steel bridge is an important part of the area's infrastructure, allowing people to cross over natural barriers like rivers and mountains. It's also a beautiful addition to the karst landscapes, which are a type of land formed by the erosion of limestone. The bridge is a popular destination for tourists visiting Guizhou's mountains, offering a mix of modern engineering and exciting experiences.
