Huawu Village

A Miao Village Beneath the Cliffs, a Pearl by the Wujiang River.

Huawu Village is located in Xinren Miao Township, Qianxi City, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. It sits in the river valley where the northern and southern sources of the Wujiang River converge, backed by the Yachi River Grand Canyon and facing Dongfeng Lake. The village sits at an average elevation of approximately 870-1360 meters. Its original Miao name, “Huawuji,” translates to “village beneath the cliffs.”

The village boasts rich intangible cultural heritage. Miao embroidery and wax-printing techniques have evolved from “finger-tip crafts” into a “finger-tip economy,” establishing the “Huawu Miao Embroidery” brand and over a hundred cultural and creative products. Miao polyphonic folk songs and Lusheng dances are also actively preserved. The village seamlessly integrates its breathtaking landscapes, Miao culture, and rural tourism, establishing a development model centered on tourism. This model is supported by the traditional “Three Yellows” industries (yellow rice cakes, yellow ginger, and yellow cattle) and distinguished by Miao embroidery.
