Gaoliu Village

Gaoliu Village is located in Shengji Town, Qixingguan District, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, nestled in the high mountain gorges of the upper reaches of the Chishui River. In the past, the village faced severe hardship due to extreme water scarcity. In the mid-20th century, villagers channeled their “spirit of fearless perseverance and arduous struggle” to carve a “lifeline canal” through sheer cliffs, forging the “Spirit of the Heavenly Canal.” The village museum displays artifacts from the canal's construction, preserving this legacy.

Today, the waters of the Heavenly Channel have revitalized the village. By vigorously developing commercial orchards of citrus, plums, and other fruits, the community has created an agritourism landscape where visitors can “admire blossoms in spring and harvest fruits in autumn.” This transformation has turned a profound spiritual legacy into a uniquely vibrant new rural landscape.
