Wujiang Hundred-Mile Gallery

Scenic Area Introduction

The Wujiang Hundred-Mile Gallery is a quintessential landscape gallery along the Wujiang River—a tributary of the upper Yangtze—blending gorge vistas, serene high-valley lakes, and cultural relics. It primarily encompasses two core attractions: the “Wujiang Source Hundred-Mile Gallery” and the “Wujiang Hundred-Mile Gallery · Yuyan Essence Section.” The former, located in Qianxi City, Bijie, Guizhou Province, features karst canyon lake landscapes formed by the Dongfeng Hydropower Station. It is celebrated as “mountains resembling the Three Gorges yet with waters surpassing them, waters resembling the Li River yet with mountains surpassing it.” The latter is a premium cross-provincial waterway connecting Youyang County in Chongqing Municipality with Yanhe County in Guizhou Province, scheduled to open in 2025. Together, they compose the magnificent panorama of “A Thousand Li of the Wujiang River, A Hundred Li of the Scenic Gallery.”

Along this gallery, natural and cultural landscapes blend seamlessly. At the Wujiang River's headwaters, visitors can cruise Dongfeng Lake, admire cliffside art galleries, and explore the Huatou Miao Village nestled between mountains and water. The Yuyan section highlights core attractions including Gongtan Ancient Town, Lizhi Gorge, and Bawang Valley. Among these, Gongtan Ancient Town is a renowned historic settlement with over 1,700 years of history, while Lizhi Gorge is celebrated for its striking scenery of towering peaks facing each other and the meandering river. Cruising by boat offers the best way to appreciate the ink-wash painting-like panorama of sheer cliffs rising thousands of feet and rippling emerald waters.
