Sidonggou Scenic Area
Scenic Area Introduction
Sihonggou Scenic Area is nature's “bonsai garden,” showcasing four distinct tiered waterfalls cascading along a winding river, surrounded by rare plants and Danxia landforms.
The heart of Sihongou lies in its four-tiered waterfalls. The first, “Water Curtain Cave,” rises 31 meters high. Visitors can traverse stone paths behind the cascade, feeling the refreshing coolness of the water curtain against their faces. Next, “Moon Pool” unfurls like a silver crescent moon, its 42-meter-wide arc-shaped waterfall spreading across the landscape. The “Flying Frog Cliff” waterfall, 43 meters wide, resembles a giant frog crouching to bathe. The final cascade is the “White Dragon Pool,” plunging 60 meters with thunderous roar and majestic force. Beyond the waterfalls, this area is an ecological treasure trove. Renowned as the “Garden of Ten Thousand Bamboos,” the area hosts over 40 species across 8 genera of verdant bamboo. More astonishingly, “living fossil” cycads—plants dating back to the dinosaur era—line the paths paved with Danxia rock. These rare flora, alongside crimson Danxia rock formations and mysterious natural stone bridges, weave a primordial ecological tapestry.
The area is further enriched by cultural relics like the Qing Dynasty Zheng Family Chastity Archway and the “Chalun” Ancient Papermaking Workshop, adding historical depth to the natural scenery. After exploring the park, visitors can conveniently visit the tranquil Datong Ancient Town or combine their trip with the spectacular Chishui Grand Waterfall for a more fulfilling journey. As a National 4A-rated scenic area, Sihonggou features well-developed facilities and gently sloping trails, serving as an ideal gateway to immerse yourself in the beauty of Guizhou's Danxia World Natural Heritage site.
