Danzhai Wanda Town

Scenic Area Introduction

Dan Zhai Wanda Town, a Miao-Dong ethnic-themed village nestled along the eastern shores of Donghu Lake in Southeast Guizhou. This destination showcases the essence of Dan Zhai's intangible cultural heritage, featuring seven national-level and seventeen provincial-level intangible cultural heritage projects such as batik, traditional papermaking, and the Golden Pheasant Dance. It is celebrated as the “Hometown of Intangible Cultural Heritage.” Spanning 400 acres, the town invites visitors to stroll along cobblestone streets. Along the way, they encounter the world's largest waterwheel (26.08 meters in diameter), the mystical Chi You totem pillar, and four themed plazas: Yougong, Miao New Year, Drum Tower, and Golden Pheasant. Traditional Miao and Dong architecture coexists harmoniously with modern tourist facilities.

The most distinctive feature of visiting the town is the immersive intangible cultural heritage experience. Visitors can step into the “Batik Courtyard,” “Paper-Making Courtyard,” or “Birdcage Courtyard” to personally experience ancient crafts under the guidance of masters, creating their own travel souvenirs. During the day, beyond intangible heritage crafts, guests can enjoy spectacular Golden Pheasant dance performances or tackle thrilling sports activities like the 320-meter-long glass suspension bridge “Nayou Bridge” and cliff swings. As dusk falls, the town transforms into a magical realm. The summer-exclusive “Secret Realm of Dan Zhai” immersive nighttime adventure is the highlight, featuring 40 professional actors portraying over 20 characters. They guide visitors through lantern-lit, gauze-decorated alleys for interactive puzzle-solving, culminating in a bonfire celebration at the Golden Pheasant Square. Don't miss the Miao people's highest honor—the “High Mountains, Flowing Waters” toasting ritual—while savoring authentic delicacies like sour fish soup at the long table banquet.
