Dadong Bamboo Sea
Scenic Area Introduction
Spanning over 30,000 acres of unbroken bamboo forests, this area boasts a core zone with 89.7% forest coverage, truly earning its title as a “natural oxygen bar.” With an average annual temperature of just 15.5°C, the region offers cool, pleasant weather year-round. As you stroll through the groves, you can not only listen to the “roaring waves of the emerald sea” and admire the “sunrise over cloud-capped peaks,” but also experience the ethereal beauty of the bamboo sea amidst the “morning and evening mist waves” during the five-month fog season.
The charm of Dadong Bamboo Sea extends far beyond its natural splendor. It stands as a convergence point of natural wonders and relics of human civilization. The Panxian Dahuang Ancient Human Site within the park is a world-renowned Paleolithic archaeological site, hailed as “Zhoukoudian in the north, Panxian Dahuang in the south.” Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of ancient human activity dating back approximately 300,000 years, including stone tools, animal fossils, and traces of fire use. Standing at the vast cave entrance, you might feel as if you're engaging in a dialogue across time, sensing the weight of history.
Your experience will be multi-dimensional and rich. Challenge yourself on the glass walkway suspended above the waves of bamboo forests, or participate in the ancient papermaking techniques passed down since the Eastern Han Dynasty, touching ancient wisdom with your own hands. After activities, reward yourself with a unique “all-bamboo feast,” savoring local specialties made from bamboo shoots and bamboo fungus, while sipping the crisp, sweet “bamboo root water.”
