Yangming Cultural Park

Scenic Area Introduction

This site is not only the sacred place where the great Ming scholar Wang Yangming attained enlightenment at Longchang, but also a spiritual high ground where the world can understand Eastern philosophical wisdom. Five centuries ago, Wang Yangming attained profound enlightenment here amidst adversity, realizing the unity of knowledge and action. His School of Mind philosophy flourished from this moment, profoundly shaping the cultural trajectory of China and East Asia. Today, this 3000-acre National 4A-rated tourist attraction seamlessly integrates profound philosophical contemplation into tranquil landscapes, establishing itself as a unique world-class cultural landmark.

Centered around the nationally protected cultural relic “Yangming Cave,” the park invites visitors to explore the “Wan Yi Cave” where Master Wang first contemplated, or step into the “Yangming Small Cave Heaven” where he resided and taught. Within, 43 Ming and Qing dynasty cliff inscriptions remain, silently narrating history. Ancient trees tower over the grounds, including two towering cypresses traditionally believed to have been planted by the master himself. Beyond the Yangming Cave relics, Ming and Qing dynasty structures like Longgang Academy, the Wang Wencheng Memorial Hall, and Helou Pavilion are thoughtfully arranged. Together with the newly built Wang Yangming Memorial Hall, they form a comprehensive cultural exhibition system. The memorial hall systematically explores Wang Yangming's life and the global dissemination of his philosophy through five major exhibition zones, including “Enlightenment at Longchang” and “Unity of Knowledge and Action.”
