Scenic Area Overview

Hailed as the "No. 1 Dong Village", Zhaoxing Dong Village is nestled in a valley basin in southeastern Guizhou. It is reputed as the "Homeland of Drum Tower Culture and Art". The grand architectural complex is anchored by five drum towers that symbolize "Benevolence, Righteousness, Courtesy, Wisdom, and Faith". These towers stand side by side with wind-and-rain bridges, opera stages, and stilted buildings, forming a classic model of Dong settlements and hailed as "an open encyclopedia of Dong culture". The soul of the village lies in the Dong Grand Choir, a heavenly melody recognized on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List and hailed as "music that sparkles like a clear spring". Artisans dyeing and beating Dong cloth, crafting silver ornaments, along with vibrant customs such as "Yueye" gathering and long-table banquets, together create a lively mix of warmth and unity that defines Dong life.
