Hezhang Jiucaiping

Scenic Area Introduction

Perched atop the clouds on the roof of Guizhou, Hezhang's Axilixi·Jiucai Ping awaits your arrival. This site not only stands as the 2,777-meter peak of the Wumeng Mountains but also boasts the world's largest contiguous wild chive flower belt, earning it the titles “Earth's Sapphire” and “Provence of the East.” With average summer temperatures ranging from 17.8 to 22.4°C (63.7 to 72.8°F), it has been named one of “China's Top Ten Summer Retreat Mountains” six times, earning its reputation as a “natural air-conditioned room.”

From late August to late September each year, over 6,667 acres of wild wild garlic flowers reach their peak bloom. The rolling hills are blanketed in a purple-red floral carpet, resembling a “sea of flowers in the sky.” As breezes ripple through the flowers, they shimmer like twinkling stars. Together with distant white windmills turning slowly and billowing seas of clouds, they weave a dreamlike highland tableau. Ascending the summit, one experiences the majestic grandeur of “ten thousand peaks hidden beneath clouds, while people walk above them,” awaiting the awe-inspiring moment when sunrise bathes both cloud sea and flower sea in golden and purple hues.

The touring experience is rich and unique. You may choose to ride Bijie's first scenic cable car, enjoying a 25-minute aerial journey overlooking the vast mountain ranges; or take the sightseeing road along the “Eighteen Bends of Jiushang Mountain,” listening to ancient legends about the strange peaks and rocks.
