Longli River Bridge
Sky Bridge over Duohua Canyon.
Introduction
Spanning the vast Duohua Canyon in Longli County, Qiannan Prefecture, the Longli River Bridge stands as a landmark of bridge-tourism integration within Guizhou's “Bridge Museum”. It is celebrated as the world's first high-altitude canyon landscape cable-stayed bridge and serves as the “Gateway to the Sky” connecting Guiyang to the Longli Grasslands.
Constructed amidst karst topography, the builders overcame geological challenges to create this bridge that seamlessly blends transportation and tourism functions, embodying both technical prowess and aesthetic elegance. Since opening, it has slashed travel time from Guiyang to Longli Grassland from 1.5 hours to just 30 minutes. It links attractions including Longjashan National Forest Park, Longli Water Village, and the Yuncong Duohua Hot Spring Resort, forming a one-stop tourism chain featuring “world-class bridge + canyon grassland + ethnic culture.”
As dusk falls, the setting sun's glow bathes the diamond-shaped pylons and red bridge deck, while the glass walkway reflects the sunset hues, creating a striking contrast with the distant grassland silhouettes. This bridge, holding multiple world records including the world's first scenic cable-stayed bridge and the world's longest bridge-mounted glass walkway, serves not only as a new artery in Guizhou's transportation network but also as a model of China's infrastructure sector seamlessly integrating engineering prowess with cultural tourism innovation. It allows every traveler to stroll among the clouds and discover the profound new meaning of “the bridge itself is the scenery.”
