Liuchong River Grand Bridge

A Steel Rainbow Spanning the Karst Peak Forest.

Introduction

The Liuchong River Extra-Large Bridge stands in the upper Wujiang River gorge at the border of Qianxi and Zhijin counties in Guizhou. As a double-tower, double-cable-plane concrete cable-stayed bridge, it spans 1,508 meters with a main span of 438 meters. The deck sits approximately 340 meters above the water surface. Its 195-meter-tall diamond-shaped main towers, paired with red-and-white cable stays, resemble a steel rainbow arching over the karst peak forest. Its steel skeleton traces elegant curves through the landscape, showcasing China's ingenuity in infrastructure through technological innovation. Its aesthetic design writes a harmonious chapter of “bridge and nature coexisting.”

Serving as an aerial viewing platform along the Wujiang River's Hundred-Mile Gallery, the bridge offers drivers panoramic views of the Liuchong River's emerald waters winding through sheer canyon walls. At dawn, mist envelops the structure, making it appear suspended above a sea of clouds, while at sunset, the red-and-white cables refract flowing patterns of light. Connecting core attractions like the Zijing Cave, Jiudongtian Scenic Area, and Huawuji Miao Village, it serves as a pivotal node in Northwest Guizhou's tourism loop. Visitors experience the majestic karst canyon scenery while “racing through the clouds,” immersing themselves in the unique charm of “bridges within landscapes and landscapes beside bridges,” injecting powerful momentum into the region's cultural and tourism integration. Every traveler passing through can gaze down from above, witnessing the tender embrace between Guizhou's landscapes and engineering marvels, and feeling the perfect fusion of nature's power and human ingenuity.
