Hongshui River Bridge

This bridge is said to be the tallest bridge in the world, no matter how you look at it.

Introduction

As you travel south through Guizhou's hills and valleys, where the land has been shaped by water over millions of years, you'll come to a large red steel bridge. This bridge is at the junction of Guanling and Zhenfeng counties. It spans a large crack in the earth called the Huajiang Grand Canyon.

This bridge is 2,890 meters long. It has a single 1,420-meter main span, and its deck is 625 meters above the water. That's like a 200-story skyscraper! It's the highest bridge deck in the world. It's also the longest-span steel truss suspension bridge in a mountainous canyon. It's an amazing engineering feat! Today, this bridge makes the drive from Guanling to Zhenfeng much faster. It also lets people look down on the gorge from above. Standing on the bridge, you can see the Beipan River flowing below and the tall karst peaks around you. The bridge is impressive, and the canyon is grand.

For travelers, it's not just a vital artery that bridges the gap between two worlds—it's also a rising social media hotspot. You can gaze down at the profound depths of the “Earth's Crack” from the viewing platform beside the bridge, or drive across its deck to experience the thrill of “racing through the clouds.” It also serves as a multifaceted cultural and tourism complex. High-speed elevators transport visitors to the 625-meter-high observation deck and Cloud Café, while a 796-meter-long skywalk connects glass-bottomed viewing halls. Transparent bridge panels beneath your feet reveal the canyon's abyss below. Adrenaline junkies can tackle sky-high bungee jumping, paragliding, and zip-lining, or experience “sky running” on the 1,411-meter-long high-altitude racing track.

The surrounding area connects major attractions like Huangguoshu Waterfall and Huajiang Grand Canyon, significantly enhancing travel efficiency along this karst landscape corridor. This “bridge marvel” born in Guizhou stands as both a testament to China's infrastructure prowess and a new key to unlocking the wonders of Southwest Guizhou. As an “aerial corridor,” it welcomes every traveler journeying toward the mountains and seas.
